Yoga for every body
My classes are soft and slow, characterised by a focus on tuning into yourself and the breath. I teach in a functional way, meaning that I am more interested in how a pose feels than how it looks. Since every body is different, why should we all look the same in every pose? In my yoga classes I invite you to get to know your own body and feel what’s right for you.
Hatha (Saswitha style)
Saswitha yoga is a type of hatha yoga in which the breath is the guiding force for the movement. We use dynamic and static exercises to the rhythm of your breath to find stillness in the body. With the stillness of the movement, your thoughts also become quieter. You experience that body, breath and thinking are connected. A Saswitha class consists of classical asanas with variations, concentration, meditation and relaxation exercises.
Yin yoga is a slow-paced type of yoga in which poses are held for a longer period of time. Compared to more dynamic types of yoga, yin yoga is a slow and introspective type of yoga that works on the deep connective tissues. In a yin yoga class, you gently work on these connective tissues in the body through a series of passive, mostly floor-based yoga poses which are held from about three to up to ten minutes per pose.
Yoga is the calming of the fluctuations of the mind.
– Patañjali, sutra 1.2
